Dyson unveils special-edition Topaz Orange colourway in celebration of Lunar New Year and
Launched exclusively for the 2023 gifting period, the Topaz Orange range is available for the Dyson AirwrapTM multi-styler Complete Long, drawing inspiration from cultural allusions to luck and prosperity and the engineering process of anodisation
MANILA, PHILIPPINES. 10 January 2023: The Dyson Hair Care range in special-edition Topaz Orange steps away from the traditional red typically used to represent Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day. Instead, the Topaz Orange was inspired by the phonetic resemblance between ‘mandarin- 桔’ and ‘luck- 吉’ in Chinese – which make mandarins immensely important during Lunar New Year, with traditions of them being exchanged between families and friends for good luck.
The unique metallic finish of the Dyson Hair Care range in special-edition Topaz Orange was achieved through many rounds of experimentation by Dyson’s colour, materials and finishes (CMF) engineers. The precision-applied finish was designed to mimic the process of anodisation, commonly used in industrial processes. Anodised finishes create an interplay of light on the surface of the machine to enhance the complexity and depth of colour.
In Cantonese, ‘mandarin - 柑’ and ‘gold- 金’ carries an identical pronunciation. The gold accents highlight the functional touchpoints of the technology.
Dyson’s 2023 Airwrap in special-edition Topaz Orange will be available from Dyson Demo Stores from 10th January 2023. All Hair Care machines are paired with a Byzantine Purple case.
Dyson AirwrapTM multi-styler Complete Long
Styling hair should not be synonymous with damaging hair. The Dyson AirwrapTM multi-styler Complete Long features Dyson’s intelligent heat control technology, allowing users to achieve their desired style at a lower temperature, preventing hair from extreme heat damage.
At the heart of the Dyson AirwrapTM multi-styler Complete Long sits the Dyson Digital Motor, which is harnessed to create a phenomenon known as the Coanda effect. The power the motor generates helps to create a high-speed jet of air that flows across the surface of the Dyson Airwrap™ styler attachments. Due to differences in pressure, the air flow attaches itself to the surface, creating what’s known as the Coanda effect. Taking advantage of this principle, Dyson’s team of aerodynamicists created a way to style hair using this airflow combined with heat. The result, whether choosing to curl, wave, smooth or rough dry hair, creates a natural look with a sleek finish.
