SAM VERZOSA\'S \"DEAR SV\", A TV SHOW OF GIVING AND HOPE PREMIERES ON CNN PHILIPPINES
Parents play a crucial role in the upbringing of their children. This is manifested in Sam Verzosa. Jr. and his siblings.
The CEO and Co-Founder of Frontrow International takes pride in being the junior of the original SV - Sam Verzosa, who passed away recently. He describes his dad as a "man of character", literally and figuratively.
"My siblings and I learned early in life from him the true act of kindness, and generosity" beams Verzosa about the character of his late father. "My dad would always remind, his children to share our blessings and never forget to give back."
It is no secret how he made a name for himself - starting from humble beginnings to phenomenal success. Despite his current stature, he keeps his feet on the ground. Until now, he gets in touch with his childhood friends and remains active in community service. That gained him the moniker "the boy wonder of Sampaloc (Manila)". Even in his business empire, he puts heart into it with Frontrow Cares Foundation, the company's charity arm that helps the poor sector.
"That's the legacy of my father - to help the helpless," quips the entrepreneur turned philanthropist.
Apparently, Sam has amplified his reach to serve the marginalized sector with his Tutok To Win Party List. Accordingly, Tutok to Win Partylist “represents the urban poor sector and aims to advance the welfare of the indigent population residing in urban areas” by promoting sustainable livelihood, progressive education, accessible healthcare, affordable housing and other social services to aid the marginalized elderly and youth."
As a member of the 19th Philippine Congress, his focus is to legislate bills that will benefit the poor.
"Legislation is a new territory that's why I really take it seriously. But the public service side is something that I am familiar with."
Now that he is already into public service, the newly-elected Congressman has already made himself ready and accessible to the people from all walks of life seeking his support. No wonder that Cong SV easily accepted the offer to host a public affairs TV program.
"I fell in love with it when they pitched the concept. It is really tailored-fit to my advocacy of helping people. That's why I said 'yes' right away; especially that this is aired on mainstream media platform CNN Philippines."
Aptly titled "Dear SV," it is a public affairs program that features inspiring stories of ordinary Filipinos who never lose hope and remain resilient despite the struggles and challenges they face everyday. Even the communities that hurdle all the hardships to improve and uplift their predicament are given the spotlight in this show. "Dear SV" shall serve as the guiding light and hope for the individuals and communities across the country through sustainable livelihood, scholarships, employment and financial assistance.
"Dear SV serves as my tribute to my father for raising me to where and what I am now."
The program host shares that his dad was so happy when he learned that Sam would be having a public affairs program. The senior Verzosa wholeheartedly supported his eldest son in all his endeavors.
"We're supposed to hold the media launch last February 6; but it was delayed for unknown reasons. It seemed to be a premonition as my dad passed away on February 5, making sure that his passing would not derail the launch and airing of "Dear SV." He really showed his support until his last breath."
Dear SV premieres this coming February 18 at 7:30 pm on CNN Philippines.
"I know my dad will be smiling and watching 'Dear SV' from heaven," smiles Sam.
